Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko now is on a three-day visit to Indonesia, starting with an official visit to the Presidential Palace. The President of Indonesia Joko Widodo together with his wife Irian met the head of the Ukrainian state with his wife Marina on the steps of the presidential Merdeka Palace.
The two countries are expected to sign a number of agreements on agriculture, defense and diplomatic training, as well as expanding the visa-free policy for diplomatic and service passport holders, Indonesian Arrmanatha Nasir revealed.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced a joint Ukrainian-Indonesian business forum during his meeting with the President of Indonesia.
Also the third session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Indonesian Commission on Economic and Technical Cooperation is scheduled. "The Ukrainian President is convinced that the Forum held in Kiev in the next year will strengthen the economic ties, create a number of mutually beneficial projects in different spheres of industry, energy, agriculture," - said in a statement.
In his turn the President of Indonesia noted that during the negotiations a lot of attention was paid to investment, access of Indonesian products to the market of Ukraine and Ukrainian goods – to Indonesian market.
Two leaders discussed cooperation in the sphere of turbines and generators production. The two leaders also discussed cooperation in aviation and space sectors.
Ukraine and the Republic of Indonesia have signed the agreement on cooperation in the defence industry. Spokesperson for Ukrainian President Sviatoslav Tseholko confirmed this information on Twitter.
"Ukraine and Indonesia have signed the agreement on cooperation in the defence industry," he wrote.
In addition, a memorandum of cooperation in the agricultural sector was signed.
Relations between Indonesia and Ukraine have been developing well despite the great distance between the two countries and continents.
After the meeting with Indonesian president, Poroshenko conducts a meeting with a Speaker of Indonesian Parliament Ade Komarudin.
