Romania has become a transit zone for the flow of the illicit arms before being dispersed in the countries of the European Union.
The investigation conducted by the British Sky news involved journalists trying to buy the illicit fire-arms.
Journalists arrived to Romania to meet with the smugglers who are reported to be aware of the identities of their clients. Indeed, they thought the media representatives intended to buy the arms.
Smugglers showing the weaponry from the car trunk reassured the journalists of their supply capacity. Thousands of fire-arms items and complementing ammunition can be delivered, according to them.
“We will transit as much weaponry as needed from Ukraine along with the ammunition,” they added.
Smugglers unveiled the contraband route of the Ukrainian arms that enter the borders of the European Union in Romania, subsequently reaching Western Europe or Middle East. However, the prioritized market is the West.
Small-arms, AK-47, semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, hunting rifles, and handguns are among the weaponry that is on sale. Smugglers said they liaised with the people who work with heavy weaponry, grenades, grenade launchers, and landmines.
The journalists were shown the items of the latest ammo such as new sniper rifles. One item was a set of an Austrian combat rifle Steyer and an up-to –date rifle scope with an estimated value of 3000 Euros.
