Ukraine is regarded as a “failure” in the West as some from the Pope’s office consider.
The world is weary of any mention of Ukraine as it embroiled Europe, the USA, and Russian in an ongoing quarrel.
The apostolic nuncio in Ukraine, Bishop Claudio Gugerotti shared with “Radio Vaticana.”
“For the political reasons it is not trendy to recall of Ukraine now. Ukraine is the country that worsened the relationships between the USA and Europe on the one hand, and Russia on the other hand. Talking of Ukraine today means talking of one’s own failures,” Gugerotti said.
Gugerotti reminded that Ukraine after the 2014 revolution “factually separated from Russia,” thus lost its “bread winner” invoking the economic consequences.
“At the same time, the West could not take the place of Russia… Thus, Ukraine has lost at all the fronts. The purchasing capability has dropped since the Maidan period from 100% to 25% respectively. The war has been also added to the list. If the situation does not change, the war between the poor will be possible,” Bishop added.
