France's Sarkozy claimed population is bigger threat than climate change
French presidential candidate Nicolas Sarkozy stated on Thursday that world population growth is a bigger problem than climate change.
Speaking on a night TV talk show, Sarkozy said that climate change was "a very serious challenge" adding that "the real challenge is that of demographic change."
Earlier this week, the former head of state was quoted in a weekly publication as saying "only man could be so arrogant to think that it is us who are changing the climate."
"People talked a lot about climate change. That's very interesting but the climate has been changing for the past 4.5 billion years. Man is not the sole cause of this change," Sarkozy said.
