Ex-president of Georgia, former Head of Odessa City Administration Mikheil Saakashvili is planning to return to Ukraine today, September 10. However, Deputy Head of State Border Guard service of Ukraine Vasyl Servatiuk said that the Ukrainian passports will be seized from the politician and he will be returned to Poland, as Channel 24 informs.
“At the moment Mr. Saakashvili has a few Ukrainian passports – one internal (an ID), and two international. According to the decision of the governmental institutions, these passports are invalid, and the State Border Guard service is assigned to seize them. So we are to seize his passports, fill in the documents, and send him back to the territory of the country he comes from,” Servatiuk said.
As it was reported earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the decree stripping Saakasvhili off the Ukrainian citizenship. Anton Herashchenko, the Counselor to Interior Minister of Ukraine said that the government learned certain previously unknown facts from Georgia’s Prosecutor General’s Office; as of the time when Saakashvili was granted Ukrainian citizenship, Ukrainian authorities were unaware of that information.
Later on, the Prosecutor's General Office in Ukraine said Saakashvili would need a visa to come to Ukraine.
