Local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions must be preceded by the mandatory fulfilment of all security components of the Minsk agreements and full withdrawal of foreign troops from the territory of Ukraine, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said, his official site reports.
“Our position provides for the withdrawal of all foreign armed units before the elections, which is a necessary condition for the electoral process,” the Head of State told journalists in Berlin following the negotiations in the Normandy format
Petro Poroshenko noted that during negotiations, preparations to the elections had been discussed separately. In particular, the parties agreed to continue work at the level of experts and working groups to elaborate a concept of the electoral process in the above-mentioned areas.
At the same time, the President is strongly against pulling out the political issue and considering it without reference to the unconditional fulfilment of security conditions
of the Minsk agreements, the presidential site reports.
