Ukraine fulfilled all conditions for establishing visa-free regime with the European Union, and now the decision rests with the EU
, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
"I firmly insist that Ukraine did everything it needed to do. It is not up to Ukraine anymore," he said in Ljubljana
on Tuesday, replying to an Interfax question regarding the chances for the EU decision to grant visa-free regime to Ukrainians before November 24.
He said that Ukraine reached an agreement with the European side that prior to the summit on November 24 the EU should achieve a consensus on the issue of the European Parliament's adoption of this decision
"The European Parliament president, its leaders and factions voiced a great support of Ukraine
in this issue, and delay is related to the so-called mechanism of suspension of visa-free regimes," the Ukrainian president said.
Poroshenko expressed hope that this mechanism will be eventually agreed on and that introduction of the Ukrainian issue to the European Parliament and voting for the visa-free regime will take place before the summit.
"I would like to ask particularly to support Ukraine in this process both inside and outside of the country," he said.
