US Ambassador in Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is convinced that no matter who becomes the next US president, the country will remain a strong partner of Ukraine. She stated this while talking to journalists in Kyiv, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
"I have clear assurance that no matter who will be the next president, but during the transition period and under the new administration, the United States will remain a strong partner of Ukraine", - she noted.
Jovanovic stressed that both candidate's teams demonstrated support for Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity, democracy and cooperation.
"US policy toward Ukraine has been unchanged for 25 years since there is a consensus in support of Ukraine", - she added.
Thus Jovanovic also expressed confidence in the fact that the sanctions against Russia will be maintained. "We still do not have the [official] results of the election, however, everyone knows that there is a strong consensus that the sanctions will be extended in December," she said, answering the question on sanctions in case of victory of Donald Trump.
